The Inner Temple Silver Collection contains not only the beautiful pieces, on display in Hall and at events, given to the Inn over the centuries, but also silver and plated cutlery and tableware no longer used by the Inn. These items, some of which are illustrated in this article have been approved for sale by the Bench Table. Almost all the items on offer are engraved with the pegasus emblem, instantly recognisable as the symbol of The Inner Temple.
In consultation with the Assistant Masters of Silver and the Bar Liaison Committee representative, we felt that members of the Inn might like to own a piece of our history. The proceeds from any sales will be used towards further purchases for the Inn’s collection for the enjoyment of all members.
As a taster of what is to come, some of the items for sale will be available to view in the display case on the fourth floor of the Treasury Building outside Rooms 1 & 2 from 8 June. Do go and have a look!
The full catalogue of sale items will be available as soon as possible; in the meantime, you are welcome to register your interest for any of the items on show either with the Treasury Office or by emailing silversale@innertemple.org.uk
We hope you will enjoy looking at (and possibly buying) these reminders of our dining history.
