RBA Tax Moot

In March 2026, the Society held the inaugural RBA Tax Moot in partnership with the Revenue Bar Association. Following initial registrations, teams were invited to participate in the preliminary rounds on 12 March and were judged by practitioners from across the Revenue Bar.

The top four teams progressed to the semi-finals that were held on 24 March at the Inn, and the top two teams progressed to the final, held on the same evening. We are very grateful to the RBA for their support of the competition, and for sponsoring a drinks reception at the conclusion of the final that allowed student members the opportunity to interact with practitioners and members of the judiciary.

Lawson Moot

Between December 2025 and April 2026, the Society organised its annual Lawson Moot. The Lawson Moot is a five-round competition where competitors must present both written and oral submissions on a range of areas of law including crime, contract, tort, property and trusts. This year the competition was generously sponsored by Deka Chambers, who provided judges, a moot problem, prizes and a drinks reception.

Round One was held in December 2025 and saw 60 individuals participate, with 32 individuals progressing to Round Two which was held in February 2026. Sixteen individuals progressed to the quarter finals, held in March, and eight individuals participated in the semi-finals, held in April. Following the semi-finals, participants had the opportunity to meet barristers from Deka Chambers during the sponsored drinks reception and to discuss life at a leading common law set.

In late April, the top four individuals participated in the final which was held at the Inn as a qualifying session in collaboration with the Education & Training Department, and judged by Master Paul Infield, Master Simon Heptonstall and Master Andrew Warnock. We are very thankful to Deka Chambers for their generous support and to all participants for making this year’s edition of the Lawson Moot one to remember!

External Competitions

Teams representing The Inner Temple have also competed across Europe in the past months. Following months of preparation, our team participated in the 33rd Edition of the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna in March and April. The team representing The Inner Temple also qualified for the top 16 teams in the Sports Arbitration Moot and competed in the final rounds in Madrid in May. Finally, two Inner Temple teams will be representing the Inn at The Hague in June at both the 49th Edition of the Telders International Law Moot Competition and the IBA International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition. We congratulate all teams who have represented the Inn so far, and wish those soon to do so the best of luck!
