Become an Advocacy Trainer for The Inner Temple

At the core of the Inn’s activities lies advocacy training for the next generation of advocates. The Inner Temple trains its members to provide advocacy training, particularly for its pupils at residential weekend courses in October and January each year. With the experience of pupil training, trainers can then progress to train on the residential weekends for new practitioners, which involves cross-examining real experts and is held in April and June each year.

The Inn’s Teacher Training Course will show you how to provide focused advocacy feedback using the renowned Hampel review method, with an evening introductory session held remotely, followed by a Saturday in-person session at the Inn to practise the Hampel method, and concluding with a Sunday morning assessed session to become an Inner Temple Provisional Pupil Trainer.

After teaching at one of our pupil advocacy residential weekends (held in Ascot), you will then become a fully accredited Pupil Trainer for the Inn.

The next Teacher Training weekend is 12 and 13 Sept, with the online introductory session the evening of 8 Sept. The Inn is committed to having a diverse pool of trainers, from all practice areas, and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.
